It has always amused me when city dwellers vacationing on Cape Cod describe our natural surroundings as “noisy.” It is true, from evening peepers to the whir of insects; from the early morning screech of soaring gulls and flocks of blackbirds; surely, even the most rural areas of Cape Cod do not lie silent. Having tried, unsuccessfully, to sleep through a New York City night, lying high above the honking and sirens of the metropolis, I realize how true is the phrase that we all march–or sleep–to the beat of a different drummer.
What almost anyone can agree on is that the sound of an open-air concert on Cape Cod is music to anyone’s ears. A quintessential Cape Cod summer event, even the most crustiest curmudgeon can’t help but tap his toes, clap to a rousing standard, or sing along to a favorite tune. Citizen’s Bank hosts a Cape-wide summer concert series in conjunction with various local civic organizations and area Chambers of Commerce, weeknights from 6 P.M. – 7:30 P.M.
