Founded in 1987 by Joe Steele, Steele Associates Real Estate has been offering consistent, high level service in the Mid-Cape area and across the Cape since conception. Located near historic Route 6A near Cape Cod Bay in East Dennis, we are known for our expertise in beach area and North side sales and quality seasonal rentals. The company has experienced controlled growth and today remains a respected independent firm in an era where personalized service and integrity has given way to larger, number crunching franchises. Steele Associates’ strength lies in our approach to buyers and sellers alike, providing individualized attention to every transaction.

Joseph Steele

The owner/broker/founder of Steele Associates, Joe Steele, was born in New York City and raised in New Jersey. After the Marines, Joe enjoyed over ten years of award winning employment with IBM as an engineer. Meeting the ever changing demands of the computer industry, he joined the sales force of a software/consulting firm and enjoyed success in sales until moving to Cape Cod in 1983. Outside of real estate, Joe devoted many hours to the local youth hockey organization and was past Chairman of the Board of the Tony Kent Ice Arena. Regretfully, Joe passed away in November, 2020 after a brief battle with cancer.  The Steele Associates team continues in his name, offering the highest levels of service and integrity to which Joe aspired.

A Cape Cod native and a small business owner in her own right, Velia entered real estate as a second career when she met and married Joe Steele. After twenty-plus years at Steele Associates in sales and rentals, as well as behind the scenes as the office bookkeeper, Velia has taken up Joe’s position as owner/broker after his passing. Though no one can fill Joe’s shoes, Velia — along with the dedicated team at Steele Associates —  strives to honor his legacy and to maintain the  level of excellence that he established.

Having moved to the Cape in 1983, Lisa, also a former IBMer, began her career in real estate in 1988 after doing the administrative work at the start-up of Steele Associates. Lisa’s interpersonal skills and genuine interest in people have earned her the respect of colleagues and the designation of as a Top Producing (top 5% Cape wide) salesperson for many consecutive years. Her dedication to her clients, energy and integrity enables her to assist countless buyers and sellers who not only refer friends but also return to her when it’s time to buy or sell again!

Robert Teahan ~ E-mail Me

A Massachusetts native and graduate of Westfield State College, Bob spent over ten years in law enforcement before joining Steele Associates in 1989. Bob’s experience and contacts have enabled him to consistently turn in multi-million dollar sales figures each year. He has lived on Cape since the late 1970s and his knowledge of the area is unmatched. He loves hiking, biking & fishing … and dogs!

Raised in Marlborough, Massachusetts, Sandy vacationed all her life on Cape Cod, moving here permanently in 1990 after living in California for 12 years. Her experience in working with the public and bookkeeping as a small business owner (moving company), has been a tremendous asset. She has found success here since joining us in 1997 & the many people she has helped buying or selling properties proudly recommend her to friends & associates.

Bette landed on the shores of Cape Cod from Connecticut in 1979 with her college sweetheart/husband Bob. Son, Bobby, and daughter, Christine, completed the family unit. Bette used her fascination with homes and architecture to catapult her into the real estate field and has proudly been a REALTOR® and Broker since 1983. As a former owner of a successful Cape real estate office for 22 years, Bette brought experience and insight to Steele Associates and enjoyed helping her clients until retiring in January of 2025. A Native American Aquinnah Wampanoag Tribe member and a proud native Cape Codder, Sharon began her real estate career in 1995 and has assisted many happy sellers, buyers and renters for decades.  She also worked for the Town of Brewster and many local businesses developing strong customer service skills and the rewards of having long lasting clients!
